Alexander J. Perkins is a Partner in the law firm of Leesfield & Partners, P.A. Mr. Perkins focuses his practice for the firm on complex civil litigation involving severe personal injury and wrongful death. Mr. Perkins zealously represents clients in all types of injury claims arising out of product liability, automobile accidents, trucking accidents, motorcycle accidents, bicycle accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability, negligent security, boating and maritime accidents, cruise ship passenger and crew injuries, construction site accidents, work zone accidents, defective medical devices, defective drugs, bad faith claims and many other types of insurance disputes. Mr. Perkins also handles commercial and business litigation matters and class actions. He has represented clients from all over the United States and internationally.
Before choosing to specialize in protecting the rights of individuals against insurance companies, irresponsible corporate entities and individual wrongdoers, Mr. Perkins primarily worked as a defense lawyer retained by trucking companies and insurance companies. Mr. Perkins' familiarity with the other side's thought process and procedures used in evaluating and defending personal injury lawsuits, not only gives him an insight and competitive advantage, but more importantly gives him a clarity and motivation to use his ability as a lawyer to help fight injustices that befall individuals who cannot otherwise do it themselves.
A Maryland native, Mr. Perkins earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland before moving to Florida, where he earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. Mr Perkins is a member of the Florida Bar and District of Columbia Bar. He is admitted to practice in all the courts within the State of Florida. Mr. Perkins is recognized as one of the Elite attorneys in the State of Florida in the numerous editions of Florida Trend Magazine, the South Florida Legal Guide and Florida Super Lawyers. He enjoys a 10 out of 10 rating on AVVO and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He is currently the Vice President of the Miami Beach Bar Association.
Recently, Mr Perkins and Mr. Leesfield concluded two years of litigation in a tragic case involving a family who lost two of its members in a car accident which culminated in a recovery of $10,500,000. This wrongful death and personal injury lawsuit had many facets, including roadway construction issues, accident reconstruction, product liability, bad faith and under-insured motorist claims. Mr. Perkins also recently concluded several years of wrongful death litigation arising out of a defective and negligently maintained ventilator resulting in a $2,500,000 award.
