History
In 1976, Ira H. Leesfield set his sights on creating one of the leading personal injury and wrongful death law firms in the state of Florida and nationwide. He established his first office in Miami, Florida, and with hard work, commitment, and dedication to his clients and their cases, Ira Leesfield created the foundation for what has become one of the top personal injury and wrongful death firms in the nation.

The success of the firm resulted in the opening of an office in Key West, Florida in 1987. Through the Key West office, the firm has established itself as one of the leading personal injury and wrongful death law firms in the Florida Keys. Having an office situated in Key West, just blocks from the court house, allows Leesfield, Leighton & Partners, to uniquely serve its clients in the Keys. Most law firms, on the plaintiffs and defense side do not have this luxury, often having to travel from Miami or Fort Lauderdale to meet with their clients and handle cases in the Keys.
In 2007, the firm launched its third office located on Miami Beach. With an ever growing population of residents on Miami Beach, and increased tourism associated with South Beach, the Miami Beach office provides our clients with convenient access to our firm and attorneys.

The firm prides itself in working to obtain the maximum compensation available for our clients. In one of the many aviation cases handled by our trial attorneys, the firm obtained one of the country's largest single wrongful death verdicts at the time. In another case, the firm won a multimillion dollar verdict on behalf of a rescuer who was shot while coming to the aid of an elderly mugging victim, the first known application of the "rescue doctrine" in an inadequate security case in the United States. In a product liability case, the firm secured the largest jury verdict in American history against Honda. A $32 million class action award brought justice for thousands of insurance policy holders in another case. For example, in representing the family of a college student accidentally killed by police, the firm obtained a recovery of over $1 million, but was also successful in changing the police training procedures to prevent future tragedies. In another case, involving the death of a child from a defect in a high-chair, Leesfield Leighton & Partners, assisted in pushing the juvenile products industry to place passive restraints on these high-chairs. Our firm is currently involved in recent tragic carbon monoxide poisoning cases at a hotel in Key West. On behalf of our clients, Leesfield Leighton & Partners is working with the Florida Legislature to make carbon monoxide detectors mandatory in each and every hotel room in the state of Florida.
